Week 60 in Mexico

 Ciudad Guzman

Hey Fam . . .

Happy Thanksgiving. So we actually had a good Thanksgiving this year. We went to a brother's house and he was born in the states and knows what it's all about. So we had mashed potatoes, and polish sausage, and corn and buttered rolls!!!! Oh my gosh, so much better than the KFC that we had last year. So that was way good.

Our baptism went through on Saturday and it was sweet. It was a guy that Elder Mckell had been working with forever and we were going to drop him but it was his time. It was very special. His wife was crying, she was so happy. And we also had our 3 confirmations yesterday, so they are rolling. All we need to do now is strengthen them with a calling, the word, and friendships. We are working with the branch so that the new converts are strong because there have been many converts and it's hard to keep them all in order.

So the baptism we were going to have this week fell. He went to church the first time and loved it and then we put a date with him there in the font and he accepted. Then the next day we went and read the Book of Mormon, in Moroni 8 because he has a very Catholic background. He accepted everything. Then a couple days latter we went and he told us that he had received and answer as he was singing to the virgin!!!! Oh my gosh what apostasy. But he is still receiving us and we just need to strengthen his testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joe Smith and he will be good to go. Pray for him. His name is Roberto.

Also this week we walked into a store to buy a drink because I was way thirsty and someone that was there said to me, "latter-day saints, what does that mean, are we really in the latter days? Is Christ really going to come?" And we explained a little bit to her and put an appointment with her and went on Thursday. We taught her the plan of salvation and her friend was there too. We went the next day and taught both of them and invited them to church. They went and loved it. And they even brought one of their friends!! We put the baptismal challenge right there in the font, I love doing that because I think that the spirit is so strong in the chapel and even more in the font. So they more or less accepted the date of December 11th. But they have a lot of doubts. But we promised them that by this day all of the doubts that they have will clear up as they hear us more and the doubt will be gone by this day and they said, ok it's all good!!!! So they are still on the fence so we need to pray a lot for them and maybe fast. Elder Mckell and I are doing a fast tomorrow for this date, the 11 of December and we want to invite you and his fam. We are going to start it on Tuesday after lunch. And we are going to fast for Noema, Elizabeth, Axel and Roberto. Those are the 4 possibles for the 11th and I know that fasting is a big part of this work too. And the last fast that I told you guys about really worked!! I don’t know if you guys did it or not but I could feel it and we found new people to teach. So it would help us a lot. Thanks.

I was reading from the general conference talks that you sent me and I learned so much from Pres. Eyring about having the spirit with us. He said that in the study the spirit comes when we meditate. And many times we just read and study but don’t meditate how this principle has affected our lives. I have applied that this week and have been studying every principle in chapter 3 and then reading scriptures and then meditating about it and gaining a stronger testimony of each principle.

Wow my mission is going way too fast!!! I already have 16 months. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

And as for what Mike said about Anna being a weezz in chores. That is soo true and I was cracking up so hard when I read that. Cleaning out the pencil drawer every week. haha. I love it.

Well p90x isn’t really the real thing but we do exercise every morning and we took before and after photos. I am going to send you them after this change to see the results. haha. It’s a fun way to keep active and not develop the “bishop belly” too soon.

Well I have to get going but I love you all so much and am thankful especially in this week for the family that God has given to me. He put me in the best family ever and let me grow and learn the principles of the gospel in a home of refuge and safety. From those around me I learned the principles of the gospel and learned how to apply them in my life. I wish I could just give you all a big hug right now but that just sucks doesn’t it? In 8 more months I will all give you the biggest hugs ever. For now I know that you are all in the Lord's hands and that He will watch over you always.

Oh ya and this week we heard some sounds in the house and just me and Elder Mckell were there because the zone leaders were in Guadalajara. So we had a machete and we went through the whole house checking and we found nothing. But after we knelt down and cast out the evil spirits that there were in the house and right as we did that I felt a peace come over me. The priesthood is so real and powerful. When we heard of the sound I thought of a line in my patriarchal blessing that says, you will have to raise your arm to the square and cast the spirits away so that the work can go forth or something like that. Kind of cool huh?

Elder “Huggy Bur” Mahas

Here is our baptism that we had this week. Rigoberto, finally!!!
