Week 58 in Mexico

Ciudad Guzman

Here is a picture of Gustavo and Jisela. Gustavo received the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday.

And this is a picture of our zone. I will send you pics later on but we made a zone shirt that is way sweet because one of the Elders used to graffiti a bunch so he drew up a sick shirt.

Well, this change has gone by so fast I don’t even know what to say. The six weeks are almost over. I am reading over all of the conference talks that you sent me. But mom, please don’t send me stuff like that steam bag or whatever it is. They have washers here in Mexico too, they are not that out of the times. Please, I just leave it in the house and it's just a waste of money. I am also reading Corinthians and I was reading in Chapter 7, I think, and I felt good because Paul talks about the missionaries that have girlfriends basically. Haha He said it is better if you just leave them behind and focus on the work. That is what it said in the manual that I am using to read it. There are so many elders who have their girlfriends and they are so obsessed with them and look at their pictures every night and it is not what the Lord would want a lot of the times. This week we are preparing 3 more to get baptized on Sunday which should be way sweet and probably my last day here in Guzman. I am pretty sure that they are going to change me but we will see what happens.

As for your questions, yes mom, we have a primary program. Actually they are going to do it this coming week. Haha. Our branch probably has like 80 or 90 that go. It is way strong but the other branches in the district are not strong enough to make it a stake yet. We live with our zone leaders and they go to the same church. Their area is more by where the church is and ours is a little bit farther away. My comp is getting along very well and he is waiting for the changes too. His Spanish is getting a lot better and I am trying to help him in what I can. He is a really hard worker and I didn’t think I would but I have learned a lot from him and from my zone leaders. They are really good examples of how a leader should be. And I think in the future I will need these leader traits as I am put in positions to serve others in the mission. Mom, it is not that cold, I don’t need gloves or anything like that. Please just send me my sweat bottoms and that is good because I know you're going to send little blankets and all that. Please just save the money.

Honestly for Jessie's situation, if she is playing a lot of JV and getting good experience there I wouldn’t even worry about playing sophomore. But if she only gets in at the end or not very often it would be good to play sophomore. Because lets be honest, sophomore basketball is kind of a joke and really in JV and varsity is where she will learn and play with real refs who know what is going on. So think about that. But if your playing a lot, I would bag the sophomores. That is sweet that Nicky P. is playing college ball. haha I want to see him playing in March Madness when I get back.

Oh yeah, Gustavo and Jisela are going to do baptisms for the dead this week!!! They are going to have such a great experience. I don’t know about you guys but I am coming back to go through the temple with them. What do you think dad??

I was also thinking that I probably sound really weird when I write my emails. I think I start talking how I do in Spanish because they say some things a little bit differently than we do in the states. I am going to speak Spanglish when I get home!!

Here are some pics from Elder Mckell. That is Elder Mckell on top of our house because we forgot the keys and I had to boost him up so that he could jump down in the back and open the front door.

Hey, I just decided that I want to do a fast on Thursday to be able to find new people this week to keep this area going. We are looking for a family that we can find and bring to church this Sunday. If you want you can join in with me. Thank you!

I love you so much and am thankful for your prayers. I learn so many new things everyday. I think in the mission one sees so many things that he needs to change. I am trying little by little, even though I want to do it all at once, to change myself and at the same time change others. It is something that I wouldn't trade for anything else. The mission is the best thing that can happen to any 19 year old. You learn things that you couldn't learn anywhere else.
