Hey, Family. I have a lot to tell you guys but I am not sure if i will be able to fit it all in.
1. Angelica, the baptism we had last week was not real. The assistants called us and told us that the church emailed them and said that her name was already in the records!!! But we asked her like three times if she had already been baptized because two of her kids were but she told us no! I don’t know if she thought she had a lot of sins or what but that didn’t really count for us. haha. But the important thing is that she is going back to church and growing again in the gospel. Yeah, so pretty much my comp's first baptism was fake. hahah. He will never forget that.
2. Our baptism on Saturday was way sweet and Gustavo and Jisela were baptized and were confirmed yesterday. They are going to be very strong in the church and he is going to be a great leader. But the thing that was the coolest ever is that yesterday all the members were bearing their testimony about how they have to share this gospel with others. They are ready to work!! And then towards the end Gustavo asked Elder Mckell if he could go up. He did!!! And he was very short but all he said is that he was in a search for the truth and he found it and then he said so simply but so boldly, "I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God!!" The same day he got confirmed! My heart and soul were filled with a joy that I cannot explain. I can honestly say that never before in my life have I felt this much joy as I have in the mission. When I see others come unto Christ and strive to live his commandments it fills me. And I have to be humble and recognize that these baptisms are not mine or anything like that. I was only an instrument in God's hands and He revealed to me the things that he wanted us to teach them to help them come to the truth. This really is amazing. So I want to come back down and see them go through the temple. They are already pumped to go.
3. I started reading in Romans this week and it is amazing. I had only read parts before but now that I read the whole thing it is so clear. I love in Romans 4 and 5 I think when Paul talks about how faith in Christ is what will save us. I love that!! I felt in my study a stonger testimony of the Savoir and His mission that He had here. Many think that through the obedience only they will be justified, and as Paul said Abraham didn’t have the law of Moses and it was through his faith in God and Christ that he was given all these things. We have to recognize that even if we lived an almost perfect life, we would be nothing and would not be able to return to the Father. It is only through Christ that it is possible. It is such a simple doctrine but I love how he explained it. And how in the first chapter he owns all the homos . . .
Well there is a little bit of what is going on.
Thanks for all that you do for me and I am so thankful to have a family so supportive.
Love ya'll,
Elder Mahas
