Week 56 in Mexico

Ciudad Guzman

Alright, so here is a pic of a lizard that we caught today in the house.

Well this week was really sweet....

1. On Saturday they had the Saint Joseph festival so we didn't even go out to work because it is soooo big. Everyone stops working and goes and sits in the street and watches a parade that goes all day. We stayed in the house and then we got up onto the roof and watched some of the parade. here is a video of some cool things that we saw. There was a band right below us and I thought Mike would like to see the guy drumming...they are crazy. They praise Christ's dad Joseph here. There were fireworks and the whole show.

2. This morning we were playing basketball and my foot slammed into the foot of my zone leader Elder Harding. I have those stupid running shoes and they have no protection on the toes so basically he took my toe nail off. Actually it's still there but it hurt worse that a nut shot I'll tell you that much. But I am fine mom. I don't need bandaids or anything...it's already feeling better.

3. We are going to have a baptism this Saturday of a older woman, Angelica, who's son was baptised like 10 years ago and he died and he loved to go to the chruch. She has started to like it and has felt a great feeling as we have taught her. It will be the first baptism for my comp!!!!

4. Another guy two weeks ago just showed up at church (Gustavo) and he said that the missionaries had talked to him a long time ago about Jose Smith and the Book of Mormon. He said he was now reading a book called the Teachings of Enoch or something about Enoch and he said that it talks about Jose Smith and what great teachings he had and a bunch of stuff. Ever heard of it??? Anyway he wants to know everything he possibly can about him and his wife is sweet too. We had an appointment with him the other day and we showed up but he wasn't there but his wife was. We went in to talk with her and we sat down and we were going to talk about eternal families but I had a whisper in the back of my head that told me to sing families can be together forever. So we whipped out our hymn books and sang it. She started crying and after she told us that she has had some problems in her family and that that song brought her so much peace in that moment...I couldnt believe how soft of a whisper that was and how soft the sprits speaks to us. I literally realized that I was an instrument in the hands of God to comfort her in that moment. Then this week she came to church with her husband and we challenged them right there in the font to baptism and she accepted but he said he would think about it. We are going to see tonight what they have to say...freakin' awesome!!! Pray for them...her name is Jisela.

5. Last week we went to the Centro to buy stuff because of the parties that they were having. So I passed by a hammock that I really liked. We asked him how much it was and we left. Then I told my comps that I wanted it so he was like alright lets see your bargaining skills and I remembered Big Steve when we came down here and showed us how to bargain well. So I go up there and he tells me 550 pesos for the hammock and then I said I'll think about it and he said how much do you want for it and I said 300 and then I got it down to 250 and I bought it!! I'll be sending it home soon but the thing is I felt bad because when I bumped it down to 250 he said just buy it because I have not sold anything all day. I don't know if that is because he really had not or just because he wanted me to buy it. But I felt bad after because that is how a lot of people live, just off what they sell everyday and just make enough to buy beans and tortillas. Then after I am reading the the Miracle of Forgiveness and he talks about driving hard bargains. Yeah so, he got me on that one. ha.

6. If you want you can try sending a test letter to our house here because I am thinking that it might get here. Not a package though. I have no idea if it will get here or not but you can try it.

Love you all and thanks for supporting me in all that I am doing. I would not be doing anything else right now. Keep helping the less-actives in the ward.
