Well this week was one of those weeks--in a good way. I learned so much from the scriptures and I have grown so much spiritually. First of all we went to Wal-Mart on Monday after I wrote you guys and guess what I found? PRODUCT 19!!!!!! There is a pic. Oh my gosh, I thought they got rid of that a long time ago, but there it is. It is expensive but it was so worth it. I hope it is there again this week.
Oh yeah, I was thinking about my line of authority. I was wondering if you could look that up for me and send me a copy or something. I just thought that would be cool to have.
Well we have had frogs in our house this whole week. They come in every night and just sit there and chill in the shower. I don’t know why but they love that little corner in the shower. And we have to get the duster and pick it up and throw it out into the weeds. We have thrown out three. I don’t know if it is the same or not but the last couple of days they haven’t come, so I hope they get the point.
Mom, I got one of your packages but the one with all the ties, I didn't get it. But D Spaff hooked me up with two pretty sweet ties. So I am still waiting for the ties that you sent me. But I already downed the girl scout cookies. Did you ever send the plates to that family? Just wondering.
Ok, so this May is going to be full of new stuff. I am going to talk to you guys on Mothers Day!!! And I am probably going to get changed this week coming up, so I will be in a new area. And something even doper (not a word) is that May 15, an apostle is going to come to talk to us. They have not told us who, and that is all they told us. And that we need to prepare ourselves spiritually so that we can receive promptings from the Spirit as to what the Lord wants us to hear personally. So I am pretty pumped for that, and the good thing is that he will most likely have a translator and will be talking in English . . . yessssssss. Glory glory alleluia. I am going to hear his voice. I love the voices of them. Most likely they will speak English because I am pretty sure that Elder Scott is the only one that speaks Spanish. But who knows who is going to come. Everyone is hoping that Holland comes down. But really it doesn’t matter who comes.
Mom, a couple of people want those stickers of the Book of Mormon that you sent me. Not the brown ones but the green ones that are just for the Book of Mormon. One member wants one and another elder. I am starting up my own little business down here . . . ahaha.
Yes, we did have our baptism and it went really well. His wife was there and I think we are going to start teaching her but she is very Catholic. But the bad thing is that after he got out of the font he fell because the floor was slippery but it wasn’t bad. He hurt his wrist a little bit. But he is all good. A member that he has known since he was a kid baptized him. It was pretty sweet. I don’t know how we got to talking about it but I was talking about that book that Austin’s dad wrote. I couldn’t remember how many baptisms he had--like thousands I thought. Just a random question. And how he did it??
Well I have learned some very good lessons this week in my studies. I have been reading in Helaman and it talks a lot about the Holy Ghost. And it talks about the blessing that we can have and what happens when we lose or deny the Holy Ghost. They start to fall into temptations. This is what I learned that it is so important to have the Spirit with us and if we don’t have it then we start to slip up. For example in 2 Nephi 28 he receives revelation about our times. And it says in the first part 1-8, that the people will deny the Spirit and with that they will start to justify sin. I think that is one way we can measure if we really have the Spirit. For me, I look at it like this: if I don’t wake up on time or break a rule and try to justify myself, I don’t have the Spirit, or I could lose it soon if I don’t repent. Like it says in D&C 1:33, the Spirit is not going to fight us. If we aren’t doing the right things, he will leave. It is as simple as that. I am learning how to recognize the promptings and learning how to follow them. I have felt a difference this week. I have been praying specifically for that, and I really can feel closer to the spirit and more in-tune. I can feel that the Lord is speaking through me. I love in Helaman 7:29 when he says that these things are going to happen because he knows them. But he knows because the Spirit testified to him. That is the same when we promise blessing to the people. When we promise them that they will have an answer if they pray. I know because I have tried and the Spirit has testified to me. I also love Helaman 13:38, when it says towards the end that they have looked for happiness while committing sin. And how that just doesn't work. I connected it to the mission, as I do with about everything I read, that if we are looking for that happiness and success that we want, we can’t be breaking rules and we can’t be lazy. It just doesn’t work that way. It is against the justice as it says in Helaman. I loved that. But really what I have learned is that through the Spirit we can know the need of every investigator. We have to pray to know what their problems are and how we can help them. We will see more success if we work with the Spirit in this way, because we will know what to teach and they will hear what they need to hear. And because of that they will be more interested in the message and they will start going to church and they will start reading and doing that stuff, and eventually they will get baptized. Not every single one of course, but if we don’t put in our part, asking for inspiration, how are we ever going to teach them what they need to hear? I love the Spirit and can feel him so close to me. I know that any doubt that we have we can go to our Heavenly Father through prayer and he will answer us through the Spirit.
I love you all so much and cant wait to talk to you in a couple of weeks. I can’t believe that Anna is already gone and Adam O is already coming home, what?!!!!!
Keep doing what you should be and keep studying the scriptures and be in-tune to the Spirit.
