Wow, Dad you shouldn’t have told me that we have a date for the Masters. I am already pumped and I have to wait all this time . . . haha. Just kidding, but that will be sweet. I loved the picture of Meg and Sammy coming out of the temple, that one is the best. And thanks for boosting my self esteem and making me tall. Actually I am feeling pretty good right now because I am like normal here in Mexico, everyone is so short here. Well, what happen with Jeff?? haha Like quick there ehhh?? haha But that is their choice. Wowo that is so crazy that Anna is already going!!!!! I cant believe her farewell is this week!!! I can’t wait to hear that and to have my sis out in the mission field.
Well, this week was pretty good. We had to get some papers sent here from their hometown to get them married. but they should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. We are praying that everything turns out good so that we can get them married and baptize them this Saturday!!! They really are golden investigators. They have already been to church like 4 times and they love it and they have changed so much. Yesterday Daniel, the husband, went up to my comp and told him that he wants to get baptized, and rarely you hear that. Usually it’s the other way around. We are forcing them to do it. But really it is amazing to see the change in them. They are so sweet. I will send pics on Monday of the baptism.
Well, we have a couple people that we are teaching that have potential. But we have noticed that we have knocked so many doors and really have not seen the results that we want. The zone leaders told us that we need to work more with the members. It is so much easier than knocking doors and they have and know people that are ready to hear the gospel. So we have been doing that a little bit but we need to start doing it more. Who knows if I will get changed from this area or not. I have been here a while but whatever happens, happens.
Well, Dad the reaction from the people at conference was very good. We asked this couple that is going to get baptized, to think of a question ,together, that they would ask God, and we told them that it would be answered in the conference. They didn't tell us the question but they said it had to do with their family, and they said it was answered, because basically that is all that they talked about. I have noticed that too. That we, as missionaries, have to power to make promises like that. I think some people would be timid and would say that no we shouldn’t tell them that, because what if it doesn’t get answered? But we have the power to make those promises and we trust that the apostles and prophet have received inspiration for the whole world and they will answer whatever question we have in one way or another.
Well, I have really been trying this week to focus on the Holy Ghost. I was reading in D&C 1:33 that says that the Spirit won’t fight very hard against man or something like that. But it is so true. The littlest thing can take away the Spirit because He gets offended and leaves. Then I read in D&C 3:14, where JosĂ© smith had to stop translating for a time because he lost the Spirit. I thought, what if I had to stop my mission for a while because of all the little things that I am doing wrong, or all the things that I am not doing that I should be doing? I couldn’t even imagine that. I think I have fallen a little bit into a groove as for teaching.. We enter a house and we start teaching but we don’t teach much to the needs of the investigator. We just teach lesson one and hope that it’s all good. And we end up teaching almost the exact same lesson to everyone. That is not how it should be. We need to get to know the person, through questions and through the spirit. The Spirit knows exactly what they need to hear and what problems they have. We just need to have the faith that the Spirit can reveal to us what it is that they need to hear. We had an activity today in our district class and it kind of hit me that I had fallen into this groove a little bit. But we all make mistakes and I hope that God with forgive me and help me to be in tune with the Spirit so that I can be his servant, and so that I can know how to teach every single person that we come in contact with.
Well, I finished Alma this week. Yeah, got to love all the strategy of Moroni and how they just take over cities then lose them and then take over again. But the story of the 2000 warriors is unreal. They are unreal. Helaman was leading them away from the Lamanites and they stopped for a little bit and he asked them, “Do you want to go and fight?” Alma56:44 And they say, “God is with us and He wont let us fall.” They were only 2000 and the Lamanites had way more. But they trusted in God and His power. I love to compare the scriptures to our lives. Sometimes we think that Satan is way too big for the little army that we have. But really, we have the power of God with us and we should have this confidence. And they had this great faith because of what their Moms had taught them. Maybe that is why they focused so much on families in conference. If we teach our children to have that kind of faith, look and what can happen. They can face any trial with the confidence that God is with them and wont let them fall. And I loved in Alma 56:7 and 8 when they were about to break their covenant, but they said that they wouldn’t perish for observing the covenant that they had made. I think a lot of time we have times like this in our lives. We see that the easier way to solve the problem is to break our covenants. But it gives us a promise that if we obey, he won’t let us perish. I love Alma and I love the example of Moroni. I also compared Alma 49:30 and Alma 50:1 to enduring to the end. They had peace in the land and were feeling pretty good about themselves but what did they do??? They didn't relax, they kept preparing their cities so that they would be ready when the Lamanites came. Just as them we need to prepare ourselves in our good times so that we are always ready for whatever happens.
Well, I love you so very much and I am thankful for you love and your support. Keep up the good work and CONGRATS MEG AND SLAMMER. They looked so happy. There is nothing like seeing your big sis happy and coming out of the temple. Meg, I don’t think I have ever seen you so happy in your life. Keep doing what’s right. Dad, you’re killing me with the Masters thing hahah. But that is sweet. Thanks for everything.
