Week 26 in Mexico

San Vicente

Well, this week was pretty good. We had two people come to church and just about every member talked to them and they felt really welcome, which had not really happened before. That is the problem with so many wards here. The people are in their own little realm and don’t even notice the new people there. But they felt really good and loved the classes because they explained the doctrine really well unlike so many other religions who just talk and talk and explain nothing. That is something I love about this church. They teach for understanding so that we know what we have to do. But at the same time I feel like I got raised up really quick and I didn’t see very much success as a junior comp so I had nothing really to follow. But I told myself I have all I need. Preach My Gospel, the Scriptures, and prayer. That is all I need to have.

I really love this area. There are so many sweet members. We have to come back down. The one sister I told you about that is pretty much a missionary. The crazy one. I think I told you a little bit about her. Well, here is a little more just so you see how spiritual she is. She always makes us chicken and soup, but we showed up one day and she had made us something different. She told us that she had prayed about what to make us and she didn’t feel right making chicken. Wowowowowow. First of all, I don’t think I know anyone that prays about what they are going to feed the missionaries. She has the strongest testimony, it really is unreal. I have learned so much from her and the love that she has for God and for our Savior.

We had conference this week with the Pres. and he pretty much chewed everyone out as usual. I loved it. Haha. I don’t know why but I love when he chews us out because it makes me want to work so much harder. I wish he could just come chew me out every morning so I could give it my all. Haha They mentioned to us that we need to have a v neck sweater for the winter season so that we are prepared. I was wondering if you could look for a few. Not 10 . . . Mom . . . only 1 or 2. I think one long sleeve and one without the sleeves. It has to be v neck so that you can see the tie and without logos. Thanks.

I am reading in Alma 35-40 when Alma is talking to his kids. I love this part because he is kind of chewing some of them out but really it shows the love that he has for his kids. He wants them to do what is right. I noticed he said to them, keep the commandments and you will prosper in the land. That is all our parents want us to do. He said it about 100 times. Haha. I love when he is talking to Helaman and he starts to talk about the Liahona and how is stopped working because they stopped doing the things that they should have been doing. All the little things; stopped having faith and being diligent. (Alma 37:41) We can apply this in our lives. We have our own Liahona and it’s called the Holy Ghost and when we stop doing the little things then He won’t guide us and we can’t progress. This life is all about progression. It says at the end of 41 they didn’t progress in their travels or something like that. So we see that through small and simple things great things are brought to pass. Alma 37:37. . . here he is talking about keep the plates safe but we can apply that to just about everything. Through all the little things that we do we can eventually return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. What an amazing promise.

Well, things are going well. We put three dates for a baptism in a couple of weeks, because they didn’t come to the church yesterday. We are going to put a few more this week, I am pretty sure. Oh yeah, also I am thinking that I have to change my name tag to Elder Majas. Haha. They don’t pronounce the ‘h’ here in Mexico. So pretty much they all say is Elder Maaaaaaas. Haha. It’s pretty funny and my Comp and I joke about it. I am Elder Mas and he is Elder Menos.

I can’t remember if I told you about the Seventy coming down, but he taught us how we can receive revelation. In our prayers we have to ask specific questions and then we have to wait for the answers. I have received so many answers to my prayers in this way. I know that God loves us and is willing to give us the revelation that we need, but all we need to do is to ask. The questions should be very specific or sometimes He won’t answer. It’s like if you go to Baskin Robins and you say I want a cone, but you never tell them a flavor. They are going to give you the booze flavor that Mom loves, rather than the one that you wanted. It’s the same with a prayer. If we want to see the results or if we want an answer you have to ask specifically. Like some missionaries would ask in their prayers, “Where should we go today?” instead of asking should we go here or here or here or there. When you start getting more specific questions then you will begin to feel an impression as to where you should go. Then we need to write down the revelation that we receive and pray for the strength to follow the answer that we have received. Sometimes that is the hardest part.

Wow, that is so sweeeeet that E Man already gave his farewell and everything. Oh, I wish I would have been there. I won’t see most of them for more than three years and I will come back with no one there Haha. I am not too worried because I will come back to all of you.

One thing I have definitely noticed is that I should have studied the Bible more before I left. I know the BOM is first but so many people start talking about stuff in the Bible and really to be honest I don’t know what they are talking about which is sad. I know what they are talking about but I don’t know the story or background. I am starting to study the Bible more too, but at the same time we have had many people ask us random questions and we are all trying to look up in the Bible where it says this and that . . . but really like it says in Chapter 5 of PMG, if they have any doubts, you should basically solve everything with their testimony of Joseph Smith and the BOM. I think a lot of missionaries get side tracked. But we are all good here.

I hope everything in going ok at the house. I assume everything is nice and clean since pretty much no one lives there anymore. Haha. Everyone is leaving...that is so weird. Meg, your already getting married and I can’t be there...but it’s all good. Everything happens for a reason right?? And Mike is already getting a move on my little nephew that I want. . . Haha kidding . . . or am I? And Jess is already driving and I was thinking the other day about when I come home and I give Jess a big hug she is going to be taller than me and it will be so weird. Haha. But that is a long ways away. Anna is going on a mish, which is so dope. I would love to marry someone that has gone one a mish. I’m just saying, that would be a plus in my book. And Mom and Dad just act like they are retired and go snow shoeing just about everyday and then off to Arizona and Vegas. What next, China??? Wait for me...!!! Haha. Tell all my friends hi for me. Say hi to all the cousins for me and especially Grandma and Grandpa Bennett and Mahas. I miss them so much, and going up to their house on Sundays and chatting with everyone.

I have to get going . . . I love you all so much and thank you for all your prayers and all that you do for me. I am praying for you all every day. I think I would be large in the size of my sweater.

Big huggs from the bear . . .
