Week 70 in Mexico

Hey Fam!!!!

Well yes, changes are this week but we won't know until tonight at like 9pm. But it is pretty for sure that I am getting a new comp. I have been looking at all of the zone leaders and have narrowed it down to a few. But who knows who it will be
haha.

Well as you can see in the pic, Elder Day had a knee operation. So he has not been able to work the last couple of days. We have had to find brothers who can take us around to lessons and to church. But he is doing fine. Because Elder Day was resting I went to work with Pres
Saucedo for the afternoon . . . it was sweet! We went to see first this guy named Apolinar. We found him at the first of the week and he was telling us of a dream that he had had a long time ago while he was looking for the right church. He told us that in the dream he had seen a big church. And he began to describe it and he said it was tall and beautiful and inside was beautiful as well. My comp and I both thought of the Salt Lake temple. We pulled out a pic of the temple and showed it to him and we asked him if this was the church. He began to tear up a little bit and then he asked us how it was on the inside. We told him it was all white and very beautiful. He said that is it!!!!! He said for the last couple of weeks he has been asking in prayer for God to send him messengers because he has been drinking a lot and smoking weed. We talked about how he needs to stop these things and how he needs to be baptized. He told us that he was already baptized in a Christian church but we told him that it was not valid and that it did not have authority. He was confused and we left him with the lesson 1 pamphlet about the restoration. For the next visit I went with pres and I wanted to talk a little more about the restoration to clarify his doubts. Well we were teaching and we got to the scripture in James 1:5 and pres talked about how he needed to do that same prayer to know if this was true. I thought we should keep going with the lesson to explain the part about the authority but I felt the spirit so strongly tell me to talk about the prayer with him. So I told him the same that pres told him. He needed to pray and I had the urge to tell him to get down on his knees in that moment and ask our Heavenly Father if this is Christ's church. He accepted the invitation. I felt that I could promise him that he would feel something that he had never felt before in his life. We got down on our knees and he said a great prayer. He asked God to feel as that young boy(Joseph Smith) did when he was praying in the grove. I felt the spirit soooo strongly. We got up and he said, "you were right, I felt something that I had never felt before.”!!!!!! The pres after thanked me for the experience because he said that as pres he can't have those types of experiences very often, but we as missionaries can. It was a feeling I will never forget. He went to the baptism but couldn't go to church because his dad is very sick and almost dying. But he said he would go next week. I trust him. Pray for him so that he can go next week. We have a date set for the 26th with him!!!!!

We also have this other guy,
Enereo. I think I already told you about him. He is going along but he didn’t go to church yesterday. He is very friendly and really receptive. He said that he would get baptized but he is not doing all of the things that he needs to do that. We have a date for the 26th too but I don’t know if that will happen. He also drinks and smokes weed (mota as they call it here hahahaha). He has not had as many beers as before but he still drinks every once and a while thinking that it is fine even though we have taught him. I was praying last night and thinking about what we can do for him to pump him up. I felt like we needed to do something so that he could have a spiritual experience like Apolinar did. Once we feel that spirit in our hearts we will want to do all we can to have that feeling with us. I am trying to think what we could do to help him feel even more that spirit. And really become converted. He will be baptized but it might take a little bit of time.

We also have some others that are progressing very well but we still do not have put dates with them. We don’t have much time with them but they have a lot of potential. We are going good here and are working to find more and more of those who are ready to hear us and do what the Lord asks of them. I love this work and love the opportunity to serve him and know that I can bring these blessings into the lives of others.

Well I was going good there for a little bit on the New Testament and then I slacked off. But yesterday I finished it.
Hahagunna lie. What I loved the most was in chapter 21, I cant remember the verse but it says that there was no need for a temple. Literally we are going to be in the presence of the Lord so there will be no need for a temple. I began to think then why we have temples today. We cannot be in the presence of the Lord here on earth, but he gives us the opportunity to be in his presence when we go to his house. I began to reflect on those days before my mission when I always went to the temple. What a great feeling there is there and this scripture opened my eyes more on the importance of the temple. I wish I could go more on the mish but I guess I will just have to make up for all the times I didn’t go when I get home. I love the Lord and want to do everything possible to be with him after this life, but as a family. I know that we will have that chance, and the chance to partake of the tree of life!!! Wow, I can't wait. I love you all and pray for you every night. I hope all is well and hope that Meg is going strong with little pancho. Haha you will have to give me updates.

Love, Elder
Mahas

Here is a pic when I went with Elder Day to get his knee operation that I never told you about.
haha He is feeling better but we have not been able to work much.

The other two are the baptism that we had this last week--of the 12 year old Brenda. Her mom is a less active and is getting really pumped to come back to church. The other guy is their neighbor,
Apolinar. He is cool. And the other girls are friends that she has made in the ward.
