Hey Fam!!!
Well, this week we had our baptism and it was way cool. He is an older guy and way funny--he is always joking around. He will be a great member. And he has like 20 people that are always in his house so we are going to work there. Actually we got his wife and some relatives to his baptism and they loved it. We committed them right after in front of the font to be baptized and they said yes!!! We will see how they all turn out.
This is Rosendo and some of his relatives.
Mom, about the letter for Patricia. I put a pamphlet in there about the restoration and I told her if she wanted she could ask you for a Spanish Book of Mormon. But maybe you could just get that for her.
Meg's kid is going to be a little pancho I am feeling it.
I wanted to ask you guys if you could send me my farewell talk that I gave. I don’t know if its still saved on the computer or not.
Mom, did you send that package to Elder Rosales???
Well, we weren’t able to see this family very much this week so we are going to postpone the baptism to the other week. The mom, Angeles, is still worried and not sure if she wants to take this step yet. Her kids love it and want to get baptized but they are a little bit unsure I think because of what their mom says. In the next couple of weeks we will throw them in the water, they will be fine.
Well, I almost have 6 months left, that is so weird to think about. After this change I will only have 4 left!!!! 4 changes is nothing!!! Wow, time goes by way too fast. Well we are starting to run out in front of our house. We have a little park and we run around a couple of times in the morning. I am sooo out of shape. And have gained some wait. I really need to buckle down these last 6 months haha so I don’t go home like this!!!
Well, as a mission we are starting to read the BOM again and we are focusing on the obedience. We are using a new book and highlighting all of the commandments that the Lord gives and all of the blessings as these commandments and kept. I am loving it. It totally changes your view of the book. You are reading for a certain purpose so you see different things. I had never really done that before but its going well.
Well, I don’t know if you knew but the church had a special conference for Mexico this last week. It was stake conference but it was presided by Elder Holland. We heard from a couple of 70s and Elder Holland at the end. He was soo good and they talked about how its time for Mexico to step up and be another big contributor to the church's success. They said that the states and Canada have been the major contributors but now they need Mexico. They said that Mexico on sends out 10% of the youth on missions while in the states they send 50%... they said that if Mexico could send 50% of the youth out on missions we would have 16,000 more missionaries!!!!! It was way cool and Elder Holland bore his testimony in Spanish and he had a horrible accent but it didn’t matter because it was so powerful. I wonder sometimes what makes their testimonies so powerful.
Something cool that I found out, is that Emily Spackman, one of my friends that wasn't member, got baptized!!!! I wrote her a letter a while ago asking her about her beliefs and she told me she got baptized!! Sweet!!!
Well I need to get going. I love you all so much and I know that this church is true without a doubt. Keep strengthening your testimonies, they are being put to the test every single day.
Love you all.
Elder Mahas
