Week 62 in Mexico

Ciudad Guzman

Alright so this week was chaos. We had a bunch of things to do and we had to prepare a sketch that we did on Saturday for the Christmas party that we had in the district. It was way good we did like a best 2 years type thing and it's way funny.T hey didn't let us finish it all but we are going to do it again in the 16th with the pres and the other zones. It will be sweet. We had to get together almost all week and practice and do a bunch of crap. So we didn't get anyone to church this week and we are planning on working extra hard to get more there this next week because we can't go that long without baptising, that should not happen. If we plan right and work hard we can have one every single week. But the Christmas party was good. Elder Mckell dressed up as santa and all the kids jumped all over him and he was sweating it up so bad, it was way funny. The party started at 5 on Saturday and we had planned the baptism at 4 so that they could just stay after for the party. But just as the majority of the people here they are never punctual!! So they got there at 4:45 and we still had to have the interview. So the interview was quick and then we had the quickest baptism ever... haha. And we ended at like 5:15 or 5:20... But it was good that no one here ever starts anything here on time or gets there on time (sounds like some people that i know..............). They started at like 5:30 and so it was perfect. We were there until 10:30 cleaning and everything but it was great. We had a lot of new converts there and they were too shy to go and dance because they had a DJ. So Elder Mckell and I dragged them in there and they had a great time and got to know new people and were more involved with the members.

Ok so this week I have been having a great session of personal study. I started to read Preach My Gospel again. And I read the part about the study journal and I repented and said it's time to have a study journal and record what I am learning, and that way it sticks with you better and you reflect more on what you are studying. I read in 2 Timothy 2:4 and I meditated a lot about that scripture. And how many times we do things to please others and get self satisfaction and that is a form of pride. That lead me to read the talk that Pres. Broadbent gave me before I left that is called “Beware of Pride” by Kimball, I think. But it talks about all the forms of pride and I found some things that I needed to fix.. even though all the members think that missionaries are perfect, we also have our defects and sins. And I have changed many things and received personal revelation in this study and I was warned by the spirit of some things that I was doing wrong. I am not saying I was doing things very bad but littler things that cause the spirit to leave sometimes. And to enter into the kingdom of God we need to strip ourselves of pride and have charity. So I am applying that in my life right now.

Here are the answers to the questions from mom:

FIVE OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS---

- My Family
- Personal Revelation
- A food here called “carne en su jugo” (meat in it's juice) haha I am going to make it for you when I get home
- The new Toyota Tacoma (preferably in black but if not black then red) I am not suggesting at all that I would love to come home a see that in our driveway…… haha just kidding
- Buying ties, because that is the only thing that I can buy.

FIVE OF YOUR PET PEEVES--

- When people are late and don’t get where they need to be on time. And when they know that they are late but they continue doing something and don’t hurry up at all to try to get there..

- When missionaries change who they are, what they say, and how they act when the Mission Pres comes to see us or to a zone conference. Or in other words brown-nosers.

- I hate in when Mexicans make fun of my companion if he doesn’t say something right in Spanish or if he says it funny. They should help him and correct him instead of laughing. Oh how I would love to slap them in the face.

- When the other elders in the house use a bowl or something to eat and they don’t clean it… oh my !!!! if you use it clean it!!!!!

- I hate it when people say things that offend the spirit.

ONE CURRENT FAVORITE QUOTE

- alright it goes like this “si Dios quiere” that means basically if God wants…. We always tell people hey we will see you at church this week and they all say si Dios quiere and I always tell them Si Dios quiere.. or in other words he does want it, it's is only if you want to go. But so many people use that as an excuse or just to say it and they don’t really mean it, that could be a pet peeve too.

ONE THING YOU MISS ABOUT GRANDPA BENNETT

ONE CHRISTMAS WISH FOR GRANDPA BENNETT

- one wish I would have for my Grandfather is that he could hear the fullness of the gospel in the spirit world and accept it. So that one day we can all be together forever. I wish that he could know the joy and happiness that comes when one lives the gospel and keeps the commandments of our Heavenly Father. It is a joy that cannot be described.

There you go mom.

I love you all and I think we will be talking with you this week or the next to figure out the calling stuff.

Love, Elder Mahas

Here is the baptism that we had this week. It is a less active family and we are now helping them into activation again. The sister has many problems but we are helping her overcome them and teach her kid the principles.
